Discover the Queen's Wharf precinct
The Star Brisbane features The Star’s own 5-star hotel offering The Star Grand, and a contemporary 4.5-star hotel for business and leisure travellers, Dorsett Brisbane.
The design aims to integrate tourism, leisure and entertainment facilities in an underutilised part of the city. This involved the placement of a 175-tonne piece of steel 100 metres above ground level, between the two curved towers. Excavated rock was used to provide fill for the development of a car mall at Brisbane Airport. The project's location was criticised for its proximity to the historical heart of the city and government seat of power. An oblong sculpture by artist Lindy Lee is located at the George Street entrance. The project also includes a 1,500 seat-ballroom and a Sky Deck observation platform with 360 degree views. The mixed-use development will feature 2,000 apartments, 1,100 hotel rooms and a casino.
Whether you're looking to indulge in gourmet dining, enjoy a day out in the sun, or explore the vibrant nightlife, Queen's Wharf restaurants Wharf makes it all possible within a few spectacular city blocks. From high-end restaurants and trendy cafes to lush parks and a state-of-the-art casino, Queen's Wharf offers something for everyone. A luxurious oasis in the sky boasting three breathtaking heated pools that offer views over the Brisbane River "Like the rest of Brisbane, I am excited for this game-changing development to invigorate the CBD, including our nighttime economy and we will soon announce more exact dates for the diary," Finch said. The Star Brisbane revealed on Sunday the first phase of bar and restaurant openings will begin on August 29, including the main casino floor on levels five and six. Apart from the exclusive Pia Bella Poker Room that houses two poker tables, the main attraction of the casino is its array of 2,500 gaming machines offering a variety of games. Queen's Wharf Brisbane, an always-open casino, famous for its exclusive Pia Bella Poker Room and enormous selection of gaming machines, offers a luxurious gaming experience in Brisbane.
Taking its name from Treasury Brisbane's iconic LiveWire 24/7 Sports Bar, the new LiveWire is dedicated to live entertainment, showcasing a lineup of local music and comedy acts (there's also a slick Sports Bar alongside it, if you're wondering where you'll catch all the games). That's just the beginning though—once it's finally complete, Queen's Wharf Brisbane will be home to dozens of new cafes, bars and restaurants, three world-class hotels, luxury retailers, public spaces and of course, the new casino, The Star Brisbane. While not everything inside is open yet, plenty of public spaces and venues are, which means we can all finally get a peek inside the mammoth development.
Whether you enter via the soaring Neville Bonner Bridge spanning the river in front of it, or through the stunning concourse from the CBD side, there's no doubt this is one of Brisbane's most impressive precincts—and we're only in the first stage of a multi-phase opening, with plenty more to come. Enjoy a bespoke menu and expertly crafted cocktails featuring Latin American spirits. Pompette is a standout with its alfresco terrace accompanied with incredible views of the Brisbane River with the addition of three private dining rooms for a more intimate dining experience. Whether you’re a foodie chasing The City’s latest flavours, looking to indulge in luxury stays, soaking up all entertainment and riverside views, Queens Wharf is your new go-to destination. From the stunning infrastructure and world-class dining to its renowned heritage buildings, lush public spaces and scenic river promenade, there’s something for everyone to explore. Among these is the Sky Deck, accessible to the public and perched 100 metres above William Street, offering breath-taking 360-degree views of the river and cityscape.
Perched at the end of the Neville Bonner bridge, Pompette will also boast spectacular river views, making it the perfect spot for an afternoon drink before moving your attention to eats like steak au poivre, escargot, steak tartare, souffle and more. The champagne bar and restaurant will dish up modern interpretations of traditional French dishes in a stunning, Parisian-inspired space complete with a leafy alfresco area and three private dining rooms. Not content with opening just one new venue inside Queen’s Wharf, the Tassis Group is opening two, with French-inspired Pompette set to join Dark Shepherd on The Terrace as of September this year. With dark and moody interiors featuring plenty of marble, black furnishings and spacious circular booths, Dark Shepherd will be dishing up classic Greek and broader Mediterranean feeds cooked over a wood-fired grill, emphasising exceptional produce, clever cooking techniques and punchy flavours. The Queen’s Wharf restaurant line up is starting to look like a who’s who of Brisbane’s hospitality scene, with Tassis Group the latest crew to announce they’ll be opening a venue in the mammoth precinct. Head chef Zac Sykes, ex-Merivale and Rockpool, has designed a menu that fuses Latin American and Asian flavours, which will be complemented by an extensive cocktail list.
Centred around an eye-catching lighting installation inspired by cloud formations that lights up the venue as the sun sets, the open-air bar also features a retractable roof to add to the night time ambiance. Bonus, the sleek space also boasts panoramic river views, an expansive dancefloor and comfy lounges when you're ready to rehydrate with a cocktail or two. Of course that famed pho is on the menu, but we hear there are plenty of reasons to get reaquainted with the familiar spot, which is welcoming walk-ins only. The Star Grand Hotel is already welcoming guests, and other venues such as those along The Terrace and on the Sky Deck will open progressively throughout the following months. Stay tuned as more openings are announced and watch as Queen’s Wharf Brisbane comes to life, with even more dining, entertainment, and experiences still to come! This restaurant’s authentic South-East Asian menu shows an exciting culinary adventure.
With exceptional games, an intimate poker room, state-of-the-art gaming machines, and a high-end hotel, it sets a new benchmark in gaming and hospitality. The Leisure Deck features an Event Deck, expansive lawn area for sunset picnics and exclusive resort amenities overlooking the city skyline. Soaring 100 metres above the Brisbane River, the rooftop space features spectacular restaurants and bars where locals and visitors meet, celebrate, or simply soak in the breathtaking views. A set of escalators lead visitors to the high roller level.
But that's not all—three more hotels are planned for the precinct, with The Ritz-Carlton, the Dorsett and the Rosewood all set to bring serious luxury to the city. The Star's signature cocktail bar Cherry, companion to the Sydney and Gold Coast venues of the same name, has come our way, pouring creative cocktails in a stunning, sophisticated setting, perfect for post-dinner drinks and more. Taking out the title of highest rooftop bar in Brisbane, Cicada Blu is located 100 metres up on the Sky Deck—and the views are unmatched. Brisbane staple Fat Noodle has made the move over to the new development, bringing celeb chef Luke Nguyen's iconic South East Asian flavours to a brand new setting.
